I personally see this as having been needed to be said long ago. My mother miscarried her fourth child when I was a senior in high school. It was devastating enough, but my curiousity about whether or not my little brother or sister was with Christ was put down by a priest explaining the concept of limbo. He did say something about "baptism by desire" but he said there were no guarantees for my lost sibling. It never seemed right to me that a good and merciful God would keep an innocent baby from His eternal love. I'm glad the church gets the idea that this theory was more hurtful than anything else.
